Guenevere Nelson-Melby's family has lived in Arizona since the late 1800s, when her ancestors crossed the Rocky Mountains seeking refuge.

Most of her career as an attorney has focused on criminal defense. She has represented clients accused of murder, negligent homicide, money laundering, as well as many lesser offenses.  She also represents victims and material witnesses and specializes in defending juveniles. She is passionate about the defense of non-citizens and a large part of her recent practice has been defending people facing criminal charges for crossing the U.S.-Mexican border.

Guenevere has used her legal training to serve the community. She has been involved in multiple task forces to decrease racial disparities in criminal justice. She taught and mentored pre-law students at the University of Arizona Law school for several years and has been as a guest speaker in several academic venues. She has been a judge pro tem in family court. She currently serves as a statewide representative for Federal Criminal Justice Act attorneys in the District of Arizona. She is a board member of the Tucson chapter of the Federal Bar Association. She is a proud and active member of the NAACP. 

Guenevere is a graduate of Brigham Young University, Harvard University, and the University of Arizona.
