Maria Andrade

Maria Andrade brings more than 25 years of immigration law experience to Green Evans-Schroeder. She works closely with attorneys throughout the firm’s removal defense practice on litigation strategy, legal analysis, legal writing, and trial advocacy. She also represents clients in high-stakes matters requiring extensive litigation experience and sophisticated case strategy.

Maria has represented clients before immigration courts, federal district courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the United States Courts of Appeals, including the Ninth and Tenth Circuits. Over the course of her career, she has developed deep experience in criminal-immigration matters, asylum and humanitarian protection, summary removal orders, and complex family-based immigration cases.

She began her legal career representing agricultural workers in rural Oregon before moving into civil rights litigation in California. She later returned to eastern Oregon to direct the Ontario office of Oregon Law Center and launched Andrade Legal in Boise, Idaho, in 2001.  Maria grew the firm to become Idaho’s largest immigration law firm. She later founded the state’s first statewide nonprofit dedicated to providing free and low-cost deportation defense services before returning to private practice.

Maria has served in numerous national leadership positions, including with the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild, the American Immigration Council, the Federal Bar Association’s Immigration Section, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. A frequent author and speaker, she has published and presented nationally on federal litigation, removal defense, criminal-immigration law, and appellate advocacy.

Throughout her career, Maria has championed expanding access to justice through pro bono representation, community education, and attorney training. Her work on behalf of detained immigrants, asylum seekers, and underserved communities has been recognized through numerous professional honors.

Maria earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame and her Bachelor of Arts from Loyola Marymount University. She is fluent in Spanish.
